The Polar Express

The Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg kicks off our Christmas Season.

  I have put together a unit that is a great companion to this book.  There is an assortment of math and literacy extensions.  Here is a picture of one of them in the unit.

The unit is packed with easy ready to use activities and printables to be used in the classroom or in centers.

We had to do a bell necklace after enjoying The Polar Express.  I had them make a necklace with patterns.  Unfortunately, I was out of pony beads so we used cut up straws (which are not as cute but work in a pinch.)

This really is a delightful book.  I hope you get a chance to share it with your class and don't forget the hot chocolate.
